Beach season is coming up, and with the warmer weather many people are starting to show more skin. This is when most of us realize that we have let our workout plans slide, which can be discouraging. If you are starting to plan for all of your fun vacations this summer, you may want to put an exercise regimen at the forefront of your priority list. Not only does exercise make us feel fitter, but it also gives an endorphin boost, making everything more enjoyable and giving us more energy.

If you have not exercised before, it can seem intimidating to start. You should always take it easy on yourself the first couple of times so you don’t burn out. However, daily exercise does not have to be a big chore. It really is just about finding something that you enjoy. The good news is that with the warmer weather there are more options coming up for getting out and doing fun things that will also help you stay fit and active.

Some people like exercising in groups, while others prefer to go it alone. There are lots of ways to get out with both kinds of exercise. Usually, you can start a walking group to get you motivated or ask your neighbors if you can all walk your dogs together. Once you start walking every day, you will realize how much you benefit, not only in energy and weight loss, but also in community. If you prefer to exercise alone, you might want to go to the gym with an iPod and headphones, or you might prefer to look for some equipment to start a gym at home. For example, if you are a big fan of television, why not run or walk on a treadmill, bike, or use an elliptical during your favorite programs? Although exercise equipment can be very expensive new, you can usually find very good deals on craigslist and other online sources that are either gently used or being given away due to a move.

If you are a seasoned exercise professional, you might want to try working toward pushing yourself more, joining a more competitive team, or hiring a personal trainer to kick up your regimen a notch or two. It is important that you keep your current routine exciting, otherwise it becomes easy to just treat it as part of your job. Finding new exercises you enjoy, adding weights to increase challenge, and getting out to go on more challenging hikes might help you jump start your routine and make it even more challenging. With more variety you will likely see better results as you defy your body to be more active.

Many people set a high goal for themselves, such as running in a half-marathon, getting to a new weight repetition, or looking great in their skibbies. The biggest challenge for creating more variety in your fitness routine is setting a goal that will motivate you, whether it be health, endurance, or physical appearance. You may even just want to feel more energetic so you can enjoy your summer even more.

Once you find a few go-to ways to get up and get moving, you will feel happier and really kick start your summer with a bang. For exercise newbies, there is really no better time to start than the present, and for those who have been going to the gym every day already, trying to vary your routine, add more weights, and really challenge yourself to help you meet your fitness goals and add excitement to your routine. Summer has never looked better for those who are showing off their muscles in the sun!
